 Tarkarli Beach

Tarkarli is a village in Malvan taluka of Sindhudurg district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.  It is a beach and remote place in South Maharashtra.  A few years ago, Tarkarli beach was declared as Queen Beach in Konkan.  Monthly, thousands of tourists are coming to this place to enjoy and visit the revival of water sports activities.


 

All the watersports activities in Tarkarli are being carried out on the basis of international standards and under the guidance of professional instructors (dive masters) with modern safety equipment.


 There are several scuba diving operators operating these activities near Tsunami Island, Devbagh due to shallow water and life threatening.

The locals in Tarkarli renovated their homes and converted them into bed and breakfast plans.  Some of these are accredited by a government agency known as MTDC (Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation).  MTDC has its own resort at Tarkarli which is right on the beach.  MTDC also has a scuba diving training center.

Tarkarli is located km km (.0.0 miles) south of Malvan and 6 546 km (99 mi miles) from Mumbai and 10 km from Pune on the west coast of India.  In the distance, at the confluence of the Carly River and the Arabian Sea.

The nearest airport is Chipi Sindhudurg International Airport in Goa, Dabolim Airport.  Tarkarli can be reached from Sindhudurg, Kudal and Kankavali by Konkan Railway.  Tarkarli is easily accessible from Malvan by bus and rickshaw.  Tarkarli is 475 km (Panvel Kochi Road, NH 17) and 576 km (Mumbai Kohlapur Road NH 4) from Mumbai.  Daily private, luxury and state transport bus services are available from Goa, Mumbai, Pune and Malvan.


 Buses to / from Panaji: Buses to Malwa at KTC bus stand in Panaji run directly over the creek, take 12 hours and cost Rs.  However, as Malvan is closed on National Highway (NH-1), direct buses fail (they also take long distance routes).  Panaji to Sawantwadi (Rs. 56; 1. hours per hour), Sawantwadi to Kudal and Kudal to Malvan are the fastest option to break the journey.  , 1 hour 15 minutes) - The total time was thus reduced to 3 hours 15 minutes.
